I recently quoted on several blogs….

@WillingWarrior.doc (Federal Ban on Blood Donations from Gay Men)

The FDA ban on blood donations by gay men, today, has no basis in fact. Once HIV spread beyond the gay community (in the early 80s), this antiquated policy ceased to be of any value.

It is only the desire of society to continue to stigmatize and discriminate against our community that keeps this policy in force. The reality is that none of our nation’s blood is 100% safe.

People still get infections from donated blood, and if the blood of any honest gay man isn’t being accepted then where are these infections coming from? Except for lesbians (whose blood is obviously safe – huh??), and heterosexuals.

I work in a state health department, and as a gay man, also cannot give blood in my employer’s blood drive – because it is run by the American Red Cross, and the ARC follows the rules implemented by the FDA – e.g. restrictions remain in place.

One more thing for Obama to reverse when he’s elected President. Be Well – Veritable Virgo.

@ABCNews.com (Stephanopoulos: Obama VP Announcement Friday Night?)

No to McCAIN ‘08! This is not a recipe for f-ing up this country for 4 more years (more war, more debt, more madness and suffering) in the hopes that Hillary would pull off a victory in 2012. That is just way too much of a gamble. The RNC’s platform was to discuss “reform”, “prosperity” and “peace”. Reform means cuts to social services; Prosperity means more profits for big oil and investors, and Peace means invading Iran in order to achieve prosperity. The reform is just because Republicans like sticking it to those most in need. V.V.
